On March 31, 2021, Lackawanna County received a certificate of approval to proceed with the development of a department of health from the State. A board of health has been formed as per State Public Health Law, and we have recruited and hired a Department of Health Director, an epidemiologist, a business intelligence analyst, and a community health nurse supervisor to guide our development based on the public health needs of the community.
