We are seeking a Hybrid Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our Calgary team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of litigation experience will be a team player who is proactive, able to handle a busy workload and has a keen eye for details.

Legal Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and draft various correspondence and documents, including dicta-typing and copy-typing
  • Draft standard letters, documents briefs and pleadings
  • Set court appointments/meetings and prepare required documentation
  • Interact with clients by phone and in person including setting appointments
  • Maintain filing system including a bring-forward system
  • Sort incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail
  • Perform other related duties as required

Paralegal Responsibilities:


  • Enter billable time and descriptions of work into billing software on a regular and timely basis
  • Maintain an annual billing target

Document management:

  • Organize large groups of documents
  • Analyze documents for relevance, for producible and privileged purposes
  • Create Lists of Documents/Affidavits of Records and serving on appropriate parties
  • Receive, review, analyze, and organize opposing parties’ documents
  • Receive, organize, and summarize clinical records


  • Draft pleadings/court documents where appropriate
  • Review Discovery/Questioning transcripts and obtain answers to outstanding requests
  • Advise lawyer on which specialist/expert to use in various cases. Setting up appointments and providing specialists/experts with all relevant documentation
  • Mediations: Prepare mediation brief and outline, if applicable
  • Miscellaneous: Provide general assistance to the lawyer dependent on the lawyer’s needs, including but not limited to drafting correspondence on lawyer’s behalf, tracking the status of the lawyer’s files, conducting court searches, etc.
  • Legal Research: Quantum research and other research as requested by lawyer


  • Paralegal Certificate or Diploma
  • As required, relevant experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills
