The Team

Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP is currently seeking a dynamic, motivated individual for the role of Legal Assistant (Resource Team) to work in our Calgary Office . This full time permanent position will appeal to candidates who enjoy variety and challenge, and who welcome the opportunity to work in a diverse range of practice areas. This individual will join a team of other legal assistants providing dedicated assistance within practice groups as well as mobile coverage in various areas. The primary responsibilities of the position are outlined below:

The Role

  • Provide coverage for legal assistants in various practice groups and/or dedicated support in one area of specialized knowledge
  • Preparing and revising correspondence and e-mails
  • Transcribing and/or modifying documents
  • Performing all administrative tasks related to the position, including booking meetings, making travel arrangements, dockets
  • Mentoring to existing legal assistants as well as new joiners
  • Assisting in building a strong Resource Assistant support network
  • Building relationships and creating connections between lawyers and assistants to the valuable resource support offered by the team
  • Participate in special projects from time to time

Skills and Experience Required

  • Legal Assistant Certificate or Diploma
  • Minimum of 2+ years' experience as a Legal Assistant or comparable role, experience working at a large law firm or within professional services would be an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office 2010 and a high level of overall technical ability
  • Proven experience with styles and document formatting
  • Knowledge of Alberta Rules of Courtwould be an asset, as well as exposure to various legal practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Capable of working well under pressure
  • Ability to handle multiple competing and urgent deadlines
  • Flexible and adaptable to change coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Positive outlook and the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to take initiative and lead independently when necessary
  • Ability to work 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
