As a Senior Manager on our Clients & Markets Team, you will be:

Marketing, Business Development, and Communications

  • Developing and implementing strategic marketing and business development plans and programs to secure new clients, strengthen relationships and build brand awareness, supporting firm-wide strategic priorities, marketing and business development plans.
  • Leading marketing and business development initiatives with the assigned practice and industry groups as well as regionally as the Client and Markets lead for Calgary.
  • Managing requests for proposals (RFPs), proposals and pitch opportunities, including advising on strategy, and sharing best practices with lawyers as well as providing strategic advice and guidance to lawyers preparing for client presentations.
  • Reviewing market and industry research and intelligence to identify new client or marketing and business development opportunities.
  • Leading and contributing to practice/industry group meetings, regional business development initiatives and special planning sessions, and supporting lawyers on business development pursuits.
  • Providing strategic advice, creative thought and leadership on sponsorship opportunities including analysis and guidance on maximizing return on investment.
  • Managing marketing and business development regional and firm-wide initiatives and projects as they arise.
  • Ensuring deliverables are tracked and reported as required.
  • Ensuring the brand is expressed clearly and consistently across all internal and external audiences in the local markets. Directing programs to optimize brand awareness including client events, seminars, strategic sponsorships and media relations.
  • Leading, coaching and providing professional development to the local region clients and markets team. Managing work-flow and capacity.
  • Collaborating with directors, preparing content and strategy for training programs and presenting to partners on the sales and marketing processes, and educating and training them on best practices for conducting a pitch/sales meeting.
  • Creating and managing the day-to-day marketing and business development budget and identifying and implementing operational and cost efficiencies for functional area.
  • Advising on and managing sponsorships, making recommendations and managing all elements of sponsorship agreements and community profiling initiatives, and executing / ensuring all materials are provided.

People Leadership

  • Translating vision and strategy into understandable goals, plans and priorities. Building a shared commitment to achieve Clients and Markets and Firm goals.
  • Managing people and workflow, based on budget and business needs.
  • Supporting the development of team members by providing continuous feedback, coaching and recognition, enabling others to grow and succeed. Fostering team member accountability related to their career and development.
  • Recommending development plans for direct and indirect reports.
  • Building relationships across functions and regions to achieve and improve results.
  • Effectively leading and managing change.

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, marketing or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 – 10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a professional services firm or B2B environment.
  • Strong people management skills, including delivering feedback and recognition on a regular basis.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability and drive to deliver a first class product.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Persuasive approach combined with good interpersonal skills, tenacity and the ability to command the respect of others.
  • Process driven with excellent project and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work under pressure and adhere to challenging deadlines.
  • Knowledge of a sales pipeline/process.
