We are seeking an experienced Executive Assistant/Legal Assistant in our Vancouver office to work with and support the National Chair of the Indigenous Practice Group, for our growing and dynamic Indigenous Practice group.

The preferred candidate will have experience within indigenous law, working in litigation and on solicitor work such as corporate/commercial law with extensive knowledge of how to deal with files from start to finish.

The successful candidate for this position will be able to build positive working relationships, have a keen eye for details and will be able to handle a busy workload with little direction.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Prepare and draft various correspondence and documents;
  • Draft standard letters, documents briefs, and pleadings;
  • Set trials, discoveries, etc. and prepare required documentation;
  • File opening and closing;
  • Interact with clients by phone and in person;
  • Set appointments and book lunches/dinners with relevant committees and parties;
  • Make travel arrangements;
  • Calendar management;
  • Submitting expenses;
  • Billing and follow up on outstanding invoices;
  • Maintain filing system including a bring-forward system;
  • Sort incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

What you'll bring:

  • Graduate of a Legal Administrative Assistant program and/or minimum 5+ years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant in a litigation/solicitor practice;
  • EA experience is an asset;
  • Experience in indigenous law and corporate/commercial law;
  • Extensive knowledge of how to deal with files from start to finish, and able to guide the Solicitor through;
  • Excellent English oral and written skills;
  • Professional manner in communication with clients;
  • Strong administration and organization skills;
  • Able to draft standard correspondence and documents with minimal supervision;
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000 per annum, dependent on individual experience.
