Our Vancouver team is currently seeking a junior to intermediate Legal Assistant to join our dynamic and collaborative Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy group. The Legal Assistant will provide a blend of skills and experience providing legal and administrative support. The position will require a confident and reliable individual to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities. The successful applicant must be team-orientated, be accustomed to (and enjoy!) working as a team.


  • Preparing drafts of legal documents such as pleadings, correspondence, application materials, books of authorities etc.
  • Attending to filing of documents both electronically and via agents
  • Opening files including coordinating conflict searches and retainer/engagement letters
  • Conducting various searches via CSO, BC Online, LTSA, etc.
  • Liaising with various counsel and communicating with court registries, agents, etc.
  • Maintaining an effective file management and bring forward system
  • Entering and maintaining lawyer’s time entries
  • Managing monthly billing cycles
  • Dealing with and responding to client inquiries and conducting follow up as required
  • Preparing forms such as cheque requisitions, wire transfers, trust deposits, and expense reports
  • Administrative tasks including scanning, photocopying, file management, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Experience working as a Legal Administrative Assistant in Litigation
  • Familiarity with the Rules of Court and related forms and practice directions
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong technical skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and BC Online;
  • Ability to work independently and collectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong grammatical skills, including punctuation and proofreading, attention to detail and accuracy are a must
  • Legal Administrative Assistant Certification from an accredited institution preferred
