Paralegal – Litigation

The Team

Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP is currently seeking a Paralegal to work in the Litigation Department in our Vancouver Office. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent file organization abilities, familiarity with fact investigation, drafting capabilities and computer skills. Candidates must have extensive knowledge of litigation law and procedures and will be pro-active in keeping current with changes relating to legal procedures, filing and limitation dates, Acts and Regulations

The Role

• Drafting pleadings, including motion materials and lists of documents;
• Obtaining and gathering all relevant investigative materials;
• Management and organization of all materials gathered for each file;
• Reviewing transcripts from Examination for Discovery, obtaining and providing various requests;
• Drafting letters to clients and mediation summaries;
• Assisting with chambers and trial preparation;
• Frequent communication with client, investigators, and witnesses;
• Trial coordination, including scheduling all witness testimony and issuing subpoenas;
• Monitoring and ensuring service of all reports in accordance with the Rules of Court;
• Proactive management of files including keeping lawyers informed and up to date on the status of files.

Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelors or college degree, with Paralegal certification from a recognized program;
• Minimum of 3 years of Litigation paralegal experience;
• Knowledge of electronic legal research data bases, such as Quicklaw;
• Exceptional written and communication skills, meticulous with details and follow-up;
• Highly organized, take initiative, prioritize with the ability to multi-task and juggle multiple files in a fast-paced environment;
• Strong attention to detail with the flexibility to accommodate work demands;
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a national team;
• Demonstrate good judgement and utmost professionalism at all times and particularly when working under pressure.
