Your Opportunity

A legal assistant/paralegal position is available within our Risk Management group. This role is responsible for a range of legal and administrative tasks to support Stantec’s Risk Management team.

Your Responsibilities

  • Draft legal documents including Powers of Attorney, corporate resolutions, minutes of meetings, and transactional documents

  • Arrange for apostilling and notarizing documents for international transactions

  • Coordinate and manage external counsel in connection with domestic and international legal matters

  • Draft legal correspondence including preparing letters to professional regulatory bodies and responses to licensing qualification matters

  • Schedule appointments and meetings, prepare meeting agendas, and handle administrative and business details for such meetings

  • Research professional regulatory requirements, including legal qualifications, and manage Stantec’s compliance program

  • Assist with routing of professional licensing documentation

  • File and record management (including classifying and coding electronic and hardcopy files, and diarizing matters for follow up)

  • Submit documents for registration with appropriate agencies (e.g., corporate registries, CSC, professional regulatory bodies)

  • Perform general administrative functions as required


Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point applications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Motivated self-starter who takes initiative and is willing to take on tasks as needed

  • Efficient, organized, high attention to detail, meticulous records maintenance skills

  • Professional and capable of handling confidential matters

  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Willingness to learn and a positive attitude are critical

Education and Experience

Three plus years of current, relevant experience (compensation and title commensurate with experience and/or license).

Written and spoken fluency in Spanish is an asset.

Business or paralegal diploma from an accredited institution is an asset.
