NOTE: The current hybrid work model requires attendance at the work site 3 days per week.

Effective January 1st, 2024 the salary range of this position is $1,695.42 to $2,113.08 per week in compliance with OPSEU Unified Bargaining Unit collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to January 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As part of this professional team, you will:

  • work on files from early resolution up to and including Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT) appeals and hearings
  • give advice, and educate, workers and worker organizations
  • co-ordinate multiple cases using a case management system
  • investigate circumstances of claim by obtaining and analyzing relevant information and conducting interviews
  • advise and direct injured workers, survivors, their families and community partners regarding issues and evidence required for a successful resolution
  • advocate and present cases on behalf of clients at all appeal levels
  • prepare clients and witnesses for hearings or appeals
  • make written or oral presentations to Appeals Resolution Officers and WSIAT panels

How do I qualify?


  • You are licensed by the Law Society of Ontario and entitled to provide legal services in Ontario;
  • • You are currently employed with the Office of the Worker Adviser (OWA) or the Office of the Employer Adviser (OEA) and covered by the exemptions for the stated offices, as determined by the Law Society of Ontario.

Communication Skills

  • You possess well-developed oral communication and advocacy skills to make effective arguments before adjudicative bodies (e.g. courts and tribunals), interview/examine witnesses and communicate complex information
  • You have demonstrated written communication skills to make effective arguments, articulate issues and obtain complex information and evidence.
    , gather and assess case information and develop case strategies and arguments.


Research and Analytical Skills

  • You proven research and analytical ability to interpret and apply legislation, caselaw, policies and procedures in developing case strategies and determining appropriate legal remedies.

Case Management and Organizational Skills

  • You can manage a caseload and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment proactively and independently.
