Position Summary

We're seeking a dynamic and creative individual with a passion for translating and creating content in French. Reporting to the Manager, Translation (Business Services), the successful candidate will be tasked with applying a comprehensive set of skills in transposing texts between languages, primarily from English to French (occasionally vice versa). This includes conventional translation, post-editing, text revision and correction, as well as quality control.

On a daily basis, you will witness the direct impact of your work has on the quality of communications published across the firm, benefiting both internal members and clients alike.

Responsibilities

  • Translate a wide range of general and specialized texts from English into French (occasionally vice versa) produced by various departments and internal teams (marketing and business development, information technology, human resources, finance, management of legal activities, etc.). The diverse nature of texts includes press releases, brochures, internal newsletters, intranet news stories, website content, articles and publications for clients, brochures, technology notifications, checklists, biographies, internal policies, training materials and presentations, etc.
  • Ensure clarity of style, respect for the message conveyed in the source text and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Utilize translation tools effectively to maintain consistency in translated documents and update the team's translation memory (Trados).
  • Revise texts in French (occasionally in English) produced by colleagues (inter-revision), firm members or translation agencies.
  • Conduct terminological research.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the French language, ensuring exemplary quality on all documents.
  • Proofread documents and ensure compliance with the firm's graphic and editorial standards.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with team members, internal clients and translation agencies.
  • Perform any other related tasks assigned by the Manager.

Main Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in translation or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Excellent command of French and English. You will be required to translate texts between the two languages and to communicate effectively (via e-mail, telephone or other means) with members and clients of our six offices across Canada.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Experience using translation memories, preferably with Trados.
  • Strong team spirit and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Capability to meet deadlines, especially tight ones, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Thoroughness, attention to detail and precision.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Member of OTTIAQ, an asset.

*Successful completion of a translation test is mandatory.
