Role Description The Paralegal will support lawyers with day-to-day legal work in a full-time, on-site role located in Surrey, BC. Responsibilities include drafting, formatting, and organizing legal documents and correspondence, as well as preparing court forms and assisting with filing and service procedures. The position involves conducting legal and factual research, reviewing and summarizing documents, and maintaining accurate and organized client files. The Paralegal will communicate with clients, courts, and other parties, schedule appointments and hearings, and help manage case timelines and deadlines. The role also includes administrative support related to case management, document management, and ensuring confidentiality and compliance with firm procedures. Qualifications Knowledge of Law and legal procedures, preferably in Family Law, Child Protection (CFCSA), Wills & Estates, and Immigration matters. Strong Legal Document Preparation skills, including drafting, formatting, and organizing pleadings, affidavits, correspondence, and court forms. Clear and professional Communication skills for interacting with clients, courts, and other legal professionals. Research abilities to conduct legal and factual inquiries, and Document Review skills to analyze, summarize, and organize case materials. Paralegal diploma or relevant post-secondary education in legal studies; equivalent experience may be considered. Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management, with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines. Proficiency with legal software, document management systems, and standard office applications. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Prior experience in a law firm or legal setting is an asset, especially within British Columbia’s court system.
