About the role

Company Description Amicus Health Access Initiative for Ontarians is a nonprofit organization focused on significantly reducing wait times for medical diagnostic imaging, such as ultrasounds, from weeks or months down to 1–2 days. The initiative plans to operate imaging services 24/7 and reinvest all resources into service delivery under a not-for-profit model. Amicus is committed to supporting the next generation of imaging professionals by investing in future imaging students through various forms of assistance.

Role Description The Board Member (volunteer) will provide governance, strategic oversight, and community-focused leadership to support the mission of improving timely access to diagnostic imaging and integrated healthcare services. Day-to-day activities may include participating in board and committee meetings, reviewing organizational plans and policies, contributing to strategic and financial planning discussions, and supporting fundraising and partnership initiatives. Board Members will help ensure strong accountability practices, monitor organizational performance, and offer guidance on program development, stakeholder engagement, and student support initiatives. This is a volunteer, on-site role located in Ottawa, ON, and may require occasional participation in community events, stakeholder consultations, and visits to service sites. Qualifications A minimum 3 years background in healthcare or law. Experience in governance and leadership, including board service, nonprofit oversight, or participation in strategic planning and policy development is an asset. Knowledge of healthcare, public health, or social services, particularly in areas related to diagnostic imaging, community health access, or health systems navigation. Skills in financial literacy and organizational stewardship, such as reviewing budgets, understanding nonprofit financial models, and supporting responsible resource allocation. Strength in stakeholder and community engagement, including collaboration with diverse partners, advocacy, and representing the organization in public forums. Ability to contribute to fundraising, partnerships, or resource development, including relationship-building with donors, sponsors, or educational institutions. Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with a diverse board and staff team. Commitment to equitable access to healthcare, support for learners and future imaging professionals, and alignment with the nonprofit mission and values. Previous board or committee experience, or relevant leadership experience in community organizations, healthcare, education, or public service, is an asset.

To do so, we will 1) operate 24/7 2) will put all resources into the serves (non for profit model) and 3) we will invest in future imaging students by supporting them in different way. We also plan to make a hub for all daily healthcare services, somewhere that people can get all they need in one place.
