As a Police Information Research Specialist with the Calgary Police Service (CPS), you will provide excellent customer service processing applications and information requests. Primary duties include:
- Receive applications for Police Information Checks and respond to requests for information from internal and external partners.
- Analyze relevant police and court information, including criminal dispositions.
- Compile investigative findings, evaluate disclosure requirements based on provincial protocols and unit standards and complete a certificate of clearance or a letter of conviction as required.
Collect fingerprints for Vulnerable Sector Searches. - Perform administrative functions, including file and records management, payment processing and process pardon applications.
- This position deals with emotionally troubling information.
Qualifications
- A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED).
- A minimum of 1 year of related experience in a law enforcement environment that includes document preparation/review and/or processing as well as investigation, analysis, and risk management.
- A minimum typing speed of 35 WPM and an intermediate level skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
- Extensive customer service experience dealing with the public (in person and over the telephone) and with a wide variety of organizational partners.
- Applicants must have previous knowledge and experience working with Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), and Sentry (Niche or equivalent).
- Previous experience with Livescan and/or hardcopy inked fingerprinting will be considered assets.
- Knowledge and experience working with online and direct entry Police Information Check solutions and Justice Online Information Network (JOIN) will be considered assets.

Working Conditions: This position requires regular exposure to sensitive, graphic and potentially distressing content while reviewing case files and related materials.
Pre-employment Requirements
- An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.

- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.
