About the role

Company Description Wise Health Law Professional Corporation is a boutique law firm, specializing in health litigation. The Wise Health Law team defends health professionals in civil litigation and regulatory matters and is recognized for its expertise. The firm was founded in 2013 by Valerie Wise, who has over 30 years of experience and has been certified as a specialist in Health Law by the Law Society of Ontario since 2012.

Role Description This is a full-time hybrid role for a junior litigator (minimum 2 to 4 years), located in Oakville, ON, with the flexibility for remote work. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling their own small claims court files as well as assisting senior litigators with other civil litigation . The role will also include supporting clients in dealings with their regulators, in particular drafting responses to complaints and investigations, and assisting senior litigators with more complex administrative law matters. The work is varied and interesting, but requires attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality support and advice to our clients.

Qualifications Minimum of 2 to 4 years of civil litigation experience Demonstrated interest and experience in litigation involving issues of professional negligence Health professional background is preferred but not necessary Experience defending professionals in regulatory matters is preferred but not necessary Strong analytical and writing skills (writing sample required) Self-motivated and able to work independently, with exceptional attention to detail Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, combining in-office and remote work
