We’re looking for a Trade Compliance Specialist to support day-to-day export and import compliance activities in Canada. This role will begin with high-volume export compliance screening and shipment release work and will grow into more complex and higher-value trade compliance responsibilities over time. This position reports to the Trade Compliance Director. This role is hybrid, based out of Toronto, ON. We welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting. Who You Are You hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in international business, supply chain, customs, trade compliance, legal studies, political science, or a related field. Bring at least six months of legal or regulatory compliance experience, including roles that require exceptional administrative skills such as document preparation for government submissions. Quick to learn new regulations, products, software, applications, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Adept at using AI for research and other activities. Experience with AI agents is an asset. Experienced preparing forms or declarations submitted to regulatory agencies, and familiarity with trade compliance processes are strong assets. What We Need Someone who can perform daily export compliance reviews of orders, shipments, and related activities, including restricted-party screening, end-use reviews, export license determinations, and shipment hold or release decisions. The ability to prepare and support Canadian export license applications and respond to Canadian government inquiries. Respond to daily import and export questions from Logistics and other cross-functional partners. Research companies, products, regulations, etc, and document and summarize findings in support of various trade compliance decisions. Write procedures used for daily work, conduct routine compliance checks, and help maintain trade compliance applications and trade master data. What You Will Learn To develop expertise in Canada and US import, export and sanctions laws and best practices as applied to the semiconductor industry. Gain global export experience in all phases of compliance including product classification, sanctioned party screening, end-use screening, and license determination. Build practical expertise in Canada and US import compliance including product classification, valuation, free trade agreements and audits. Gain experience documenting procedures, maintaining compliance data, and improving the applications and tools that support trade compliance work, including AI-enabled workflows. Grow from high-volume transactional work into more complex and higher-value trade compliance responsibilities over time.
