Role Description This is a full-time, hybrid Articling Student role for the 2027-2028 articling term, based in Toronto, ON. The Articling Student will assist lawyers with legal research, drafting memoranda, pleadings, motion materials, and correspondence. The role includes reviewing and analyzing documents, preparing summaries, and supporting the discovery process. The Articling Student will participate in client meetings, attend court and other proceedings as appropriate, and help prepare materials for hearings, mediations, and negotiations. The role also involves managing deadlines, organizing files, and collaborating with legal and administrative team members to support efficient file handling and excellent client service. Qualifications Strong legal research and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret legislation, case law, and legal commentary. Clear, concise legal writing skills for drafting memoranda, pleadings, submissions, and client communications. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing files, deadlines, and document review. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with colleagues and interacting with clients and stakeholders. Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and a high level of integrity in handling confidential information. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Enrollment in or completion of a JD/LLB program and eligibility to article in Ontario. Interest in litigation and/or insurance, or related practice areas is an asset. Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., CanLII, Westlaw, Lexis) and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
