CGS LAW is a boutique law firm practising in family, immigration, and refugee law. We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Junior Family Lawyer to join our team. The successful candidate will primarily handle family law matters while also assisting with immigration and refugee files. Key Responsibilities · Represent clients in family law matters, including separation, divorce, parenting arrangements, decision-making responsibility, child and spousal support, property issues, and domestic contracts. · Attend court appearances, conferences, motions, and other family law proceedings. · Draft pleadings, affidavits, financial statements, agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents. · Develop case strategies and provide practical, client-focused legal advice. · Negotiate resolutions and advocate effectively on behalf of clients. · Assist with immigration and refugee matters, including applications, hearings, appeals, and related legal proceedings. · Conduct legal research and remain informed about developments in family, immigration, and refugee law. · Communicate regularly and compassionately with clients, opposing counsel, courts, tribunals, and government authorities. · Manage files independently while working collaboratively with other members of the firm. What We Are Looking For · One to three years of experience in family law. · Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. · Empanelment with Legal Aid Ontario or eligibility and willingness to become empanelled. · An interest in developing or expanding experience in immigration and refugee law. · Strong legal research, drafting, analytical, and advocacy skills. · Excellent attention to detail and a practical, client-focused approach. · Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills. · The ability to manage files independently and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. · A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork. · The ability and interest to work in a hybrid environment. · Oral Ukrainian fluency (proficiency in other languages is an asset).
