Paralegal - Collections & Compliance Associate - Recent Graduates
About the role
Are you a newly licensed Ontario Paralegal, or actively working towards obtaining your license, and looking to launch your career, gain hands-on tribunal experience, and make a real impact?
York Property Management is looking for a driven, recent graduate to join our team as a Collections & Compliance Associate.
Reporting directly to our General Counsel, you won’t just be pushing paper—you’ll be getting real-world advocacy experience at the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) and learning the ropes of corporate property management from an experienced legal mentor.
Why Start Your Career With Us?
Direct Mentorship: Work directly under our General Counsel to build your confidence and refine your legal skills while you complete your licensing journey. Real Tribunal Experience: Don't wait years to advocate. You will actively prepare forms, file documents, and assist with/attend LTB hearings. Supportive Team Culture: We’re committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive workplace where your questions are answered and your contributions are valued. Career Growth: Advance your career with a company that recognizes hard work through our peer recognition program.
What You’ll Do
Legal Advocacy & LTB Process
Draft, process, and file legal documents and Tribunal Forms with the LTB. Attend and assist with Landlord and Tenant Board hearings. Draft compliance letters and legal correspondence.
Lease Compliance & Resident Relations
Collaborate with our Managers of Resident Experience (MREs) and Community Managers to ensure tenancy guidelines are being followed. Act as a professional point of contact for resident issues, disputes, and compliance discussions. Update and maintain resident files, ledgers, and notes in our property management software (Propertyware).
Rent Collection & Administration
Post electronic and in-person rent payments to resident account ledgers. Proactively communicate with residents regarding rental arrears and prepare reminder notices. Coordinate with social service agencies when required to support residents. Maintain organized paper and electronic legal files.
What You Have
License: You hold a valid Paralegal license in Ontario (P1) in good standing with the LSO, OR are actively working towards obtaining your license. Knowledge: You have a solid foundational understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act and LTB procedures (clinic or field placement experience absolutely counts!). Confidence: You have strong public speaking skills and are ready to learn how to represent the company in tribunal settings. Temperament: You can remain calm, professional, and empathetic in stressful situations while maintaining strict confidentiality. Tech-Savvy: You are comfortable with computers and eager to learn new property management software. Other: 1+ years of experience in collections, administration, or property management is an asset, but not required. We are happy to train the right new graduate!
