Legal Assistant - Estate Planning & Litigation
About the role
Are you someone who takes pride in doing the work? Do you find satisfaction in keeping things moving, managing the details, and being the reliable person your team can count on? Are you looking for a role where showing up, executing well, and caring about the people around you genuinely matters? This might be the right fit.
About Us Kormos LLP is a boutique law firm delivering strategic, thoughtful legal services that empower our clients in their business and personal lives. Our culture is built on growth, curiosity, and confidence. We are serious about the law, but also about creating an environment where lawyers can build meaningful careers and lasting client relationships. We value people over numbers, knowing that trust and integrity create stronger results than billable hours ever could. If you want to do meaningful legal work while staying connected to a supportive team and community, you will feel at home here.
Values These are not values we simply frame on the wall; they are how we actually make decisions and treat each other and our clients: Proactive — We take the time to understand context so we can genuinely help. We anticipate what's coming, acknowledge challenges head-on, and look for solutions rather than waiting to be told. When we're stuck, we ask. Responsible — We own our tasks completely, from definition through execution. We give and receive honest feedback every day, hold ourselves accountable, and constantly look for better ways to do the work. We show up with intention. Empathy — We recognize that people are dealing with things we can't always see. We communicate with care and mindfulness, stay open to different perspectives, and build the kind of trust that makes direct, honest conversation feel safe.
About the Role This is a dual role: you will be the first point of contact for our firm and a key member of our legal assistant team. As the person at reception, you are the face and voice of Kormos LLP. While client visits to our office are not frequent, when they happen, you set the tone. You answer the phone, greet visitors, and represent the firm with warmth and professionalism. As a legal assistant, you work alongside our lawyers on estate, litigation, and corporate matters. Your job is to keep files moving — accurately, thoroughly, and on time. You will be trusted to handle real work from day one, and the team will count on you to follow through.
Responsibilities Reception & first impressions — Welcome clients and visitors with warmth and professionalism, answer incoming calls, and serve as the first point of contact that sets the tone for every interaction with our firm. Client care — Manage intake communications with warmth and professionalism, schedule meetings that respect everyone's time, and maintain files with the attention to detail that boutique service demands. Document excellence — Prepare and file court documents, correspondence, and legal materials with precision, understanding that accuracy protects our clients' interests. Communication coordination — Draft and send correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, and courts, always maintaining the professional yet personable tone that sets us apart. File management — Organize electronic and paper files systematically, ensuring instant access to information when our lawyers and clients need it most. Financial administration — Prepare invoices, track payments, and maintain accounting records, treating client funds with the care they deserve. Court preparation — Organize materials for court appearances and client meetings, anticipating needs and ensuring nothing is overlooked. Process improvement — Share ideas for making our operations more efficient and client-friendly. Administrative support — Occasional support to firm leadership on special projects or initiatives.
