What We Are Looking For:
The firm is seeking a proactive, personable and detail-oriented legal assistant to fill an open vacancy in our Corporate Commercial department. This role will support a team of Corporate Commercial Lawyers within a busy and growing practice. This opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys working closely with a group of lawyers and being a reliable and trusted member of the team. The successful candidate is organized, responsive and comfortable taking initiative, with the ability to anticipate needs and help move tasks forward. They take pride in producing high-quality work, bring a practical and solutions-oriented approach, and are able to manage competing priorities in a supportive and collaborative environment. Responsibilities:

Independently manage and organize the daily operations of a team of busy Corporate Commercial Lawyers

Handle all administrative details with respect to accounting, expenses, opening and closing files, docketing, billing, etc.

Assist with travel arrangements

Assist with conflict checks and onboarding of clients

Assist with preparing, revising, styling, formatting, cleaning, editing and finalizing correspondence and corporate documentation

Compile Record Books

Keep an up to date and organized filing system

Proofreading and checking all documents to ensure accuracy and consistency

Communicate with clients and third parties in a professional and approachable manner

Diarize and track deadlines

Produce the highest quality of work

Accountable for all work assigned

Requirements:
- Minimum three years’ legal experience within Corporate law
- Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant and/or Law Clerk program
- Handle time pressure and stress of multiple demands
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence interacting with clients
Skills:
- Microsoft 365 suite of applications
- Strong technical skills with creating, numbering, styling and rebuilding documents
- Familiarity with corporate and minute book documents
- Knowledge of Workshare Compare or a similar document comparison program
- Familiarity with iManage, DocuSign, and MinuteBox would be an asset
- Strong proofreading, spelling and grammar skills
- Ability to problem solve

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 annually; the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal and market equity.
