Job Description Overview AtkinsRéalis is hiring a Commercial Manager to join our growing team based in Toronto, Ontario. The Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing the commercial, contractual, and financial aspects of engineering services projects and portfolios. The role ensures that contracts are administered effectively, risks are managed proactively, and commercial strategies support profitable delivery while maintaining strong client relationships. The Commercial Manager acts as a key interface between project teams, finance, legal, procurement, and senior leadership, End-to-end commercial ownership for projects or portfolios, Client-facing commercial leadership, Risk, change, and financial performance management. Your role Contract Management & Negotiation: Interpret complex contractual terms and advise stakeholders on risks and obligations. Lead cost control, forecasting, and commercial monthly cost reporting processes. Ensure robust change management and variation controls. Support project teams in achieving commercial and financial targets. Claims & Dispute Resolution: Oversee claims management, including preparation, evaluation, and negotiation. Ensure proper documentation of contractual entitlements. Lead dispute avoidance strategies and resolution processes. Support litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) when required. Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary commercial interface with clients, partners, and subcontractors. Build and maintain strong client relationships. Collaborate with engineering, project management, finance, procurement, and legal teams. Support executive reporting and decision-making. About you Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Law, or a related discipline. 10-15+ years of progressive experience in commercial, contract, or project controls roles within engineering, construction, or professional services. Expert knowledge of contract forms (CCDC, FIDIC, EPC, PPP/P3). with experience working in matrix and project-based organizations. Strong understanding of project economics, cost structures, profitability drivers with strong financial analysis and forecasting capability, .Strong understanding of contract forms (e.g., lump sum, reimbursable, alliance, DB, EPC, professional services) Proven experience managing commercial risk and complex claims including managing variations, claims, and financial performance Strong dispute resolution and negotiation capabilities, ability to influence senior stakeholders and shape strategy. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills including ability to manage diverse internal and external stakeholders.
