Rates & Billing Compliance Administrator
About the role
Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes), one of Canada’s largest and most successful law firms, has an immediate opening for a Rates & Billing Compliance Administrator to join the Finance & Accounting department in the Toronto office.
Reporting to the Manager, Billing, the Rates & Billing Compliance Administrator will be responsible for assisting the Billing Compliance team with various administrative requests related to rate renewals, compliance with outside counsel guidelines and ad-hoc e-billing compliance requests.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Determining appropriate rates to use on clients and/or matters to ensure they are consistent with engagement letters or previously negotiated agreements Ensuring accurate and timely setup and maintenance of client/matter rates in both the accounting system and e-billing vendor platforms Liaising with clients on rate submissions through e-billing vendor platforms and resolving outstanding issues Administering annual client-rate renewals Liaising with management from the Pricing and Finance teams to obtain new rates and client/matter agreements and ensuring submissions are completed before deadlines Reviewing new timekeeper rates monthly to ensure accuracy for monthly billing Implementing and maintaining all rate sets and structures in Aderant Acting as an expert in rates management and rate structures in Aderant to support the billing process and providing guidance to the Billing and E-Billing team regarding rates Reviewing outside counsel guidelines for all clients and assisting with creating/maintaining client-appropriate rules in Aderant Responding to routine questions and providing information regarding rates and special fee arrangements Ad hoc requests and project, as directed by the Manager, Billing
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Post-secondary education in accounting or finance is required Minimum of two years of related work experience, preferably within a professional services firm Experience with Aderant is preferred
Skills/Abilities:
Client-service oriented, with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all organizational levels Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands Strong attention to detail and efficiency and organizational skills Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Experience with e-billing platforms (i.e., Legal Tracker, CounselLink, TyMetrix, etc.) Knowledge of SQL is an asset but not required Proactive, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment Highly analytical problem solver and strong understanding of advanced data functions Experience with professional services billing systems (i.e., Aderant, Elite) is considered an asset Flexibility to work overtime when necessary
Compensation
The anticipated annual salary for the Rates & Billing Compliance Administrator position is $70,000 - $80,000. Salary levels will be determined commensurate with internal equity, market equity and experience.
