MBM Intellectual Property Law is looking for a registered Canadian Trademark Agent to join our trademark practice. This is an opportunity to work directly with innovative clients, manage meaningful trademark portfolios, and help shape brand protection strategies across Canada and internationally.

The Opportunity
Prepare, file, prosecute, and manage Canadian trademark applications before CIPO. Advise clients on trademark clearance, filing, prosecution, portfolio management, renewals, and brand protection strategy. Draft clear, persuasive responses to Examiner’s Reports and communicate recommendations to clients. Coordinate with clients, foreign associates, and agents on Canadian and international trademark matters. Support opposition, expungement, and contentious trademark matters in collaboration with senior agents and lawyers. Manage deadlines, maintain accurate portfolio records, and help ensure exceptional client service. Build strong client relationships by providing practical, business-minded advice. Contribute to mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the trademark team.
What You Bring
Registration as a Canadian Trademark Agent in good standing. Approximately 5+ years of trademark prosecution and portfolio management experience. Strong working knowledge of CIPO practices, procedures, and trademark prosecution strategy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate legal and technical issues into practical client advice. Strong organization skills and confidence managing deadlines, priorities, and multiple active matters. A collaborative, service-minded approach and sound business judgment. Post-secondary education; a legal degree or equivalent qualification is an asset. Experience with U.S. or foreign trademark matters is an asset. Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.

Compensation And Hiring Transparency
Compensation will be competitive and aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibility. Salary range $90,000 to $110,000.
