QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Immigration law knowledge: Minimum two Canadian immigration law course at law school; Minimum 10 hours of Canadian immigration CPD; and, Volunteering, working, or other participation in immigration-related work.
- Marketing and networking: you will be required to engage in marketing efforts online and in-person to sustain and expand the firm’s client base.
- Attention to detail: meticulously organized with a keen eye for detail, ensuring precision in all aspects of your work.
- Ethics and compliance: thorough understanding of Law Society rules, particularly those concerning Trust accounting.
- Technological literacy: proficient in Microsoft Suite programs and adept at leveraging technology.
- Exceptional communication skills: strong spoken and written communication skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal abilities. You will be required to write succinctly and clearly.
- Effective time management: ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Immigration application drafting: prepare and draft immigration and citizenship applications with accuracy and compliance.
- Staff training and development: accept from and provide to support staff constructive feedback, fostering professional growth within the team.
- Client and stakeholder relations: maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders, delivering exceptional service.
- Public speaking: you will be required to present on hard and soft skills to the firm, and potentially present to the public if an opportunity arises.
- Timekeeping: maintain accurate timekeeping records to ensure efficient workflow management.
- The code phrase is “attention to detail”.
- Engaged learner: immigration law, policy, and procedure change weekly and it is essential to stay on top of the new information.
REMUNERATION AND LOCATION:
- Compensation: A. Articling students (i.e., interns) receive a monthly base of $2,000 to $3,000, depending on skills and knowledge, prior legal experience, writing ability, judgment, reliability, and supervision needs. The firm may also award discretionary performance bonuses for exceptional contribution, productivity, file ownership, client-service judgment, or work quality. B. Students who are hired back as associates may participate in a competitive incentive-based remuneration model tied to collected professional fees. Depending on experience, productivity, collections, and time investment, hire-back associates who meet the firm’s quality, file-management, billing, client-service, and professional-responsibility expectations can reasonably anticipate total annual remuneration of approximately $75,000 to $150,000.

- Office location: Experience a modern workspace at Suite 960 – 13401 108 Avenue, Surrey, BC, equipped with the necessary tools and resources to support your practice. We are mostly an in-person work environment but we can work from home one or two days per week once onboarding is complete and targets are being reached.
