Legal Assistant How does the role impact the organization? Raymond James Ltd. is seeking a Legal Assistant for the firm’s Legal Department in the Vancouver office. We are seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join our team. If you have experience in providing legal support to a small team of lawyers and committed to meeting the goals of the firm’s Legal Department, we would be thrilled to have you on our team. What will your role be responsible for? Maintaining corporate documents and shadow minute books for the firm and its subsidiaries; Liaising with external law firms on corporate recordkeeping; Assisting lawyers with litigation discovery requests and litigation management; Managing workflow and assignments for the lawyers; Communicating with the firm’s internal clients on their requests for legal queries, opinions and those relating to the businesses of the investment dealer and its subsidiaries for assignment; and Providing department budgeting support. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a keen attention to detail in maintaining accuracy in proofreading documents (checking for formatting, spelling and grammar), have prior experience in producing/editing drafts of corporate resolutions from template and revising/blacklining documents, reports and memos as may be requested by the lawyers in the Department. An ability to demonstrate critical thinking and independent thought while performing tasks is highly desirable. What can you expect from us? Our most important investment is in people. What do we expect from you? To qualify for this opportunity you possess: Certification from an accredited Legal Assistant program; Minimum of 10 years of prior work experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm, corporate law department or equivalent experience; Some knowledge of legal requirements of contracts and familiarity with litigation proceedings and good corporate governance and recordkeeping; Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, Adobe for document creation and compiling for board books; Keen attention to detail, with an ability to spot discrepancies and errors; Strong analytical and organizational skills; Ability to work independently; Ability to communicate with varying seniority levels, including managers and department heads and executives; and Other relevant qualifications and experience.
