Paralegal/ Collections Specialist
Our client, a trusted financial services company, is seeking a Small Claims Paralegal / Collections Specialist to join its team. The successful candidate will manage small claims court filings, case administration, and collections communications. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a professional, confident approach when handling collection calls.
Key Responsibilities
● Draft and issue demand letters, notices, and related correspondence ● Prepare, file, and manage small claims court documents, pleadings, and motions ● Track court deadlines, hearing dates, and procedural requirements to ensure timely filings ● Maintain organized, up-to-date case files and documentation ● Make outbound collections calls and respond to inbound debtor inquiries ● Negotiate and document payment arrangements ● Assist with enforcement, garnishments, and other recovery-related steps, as needed ● Ensure compliance with Ontario collections laws and company policies
Key Qualifications ● Graduate of a recognized Paralegal or Legal Assistant program (ILCO certification or Paralegal license preferred) ● Minimum of 2 years of experience in collections, recovery, or small claims filings ● Knowledge of Ontario Small Claims Court procedures; experience with court filing systems (Case Lines, JSO portal) is an asset ● Strong written and verbal communication skills ● Professional and confident phone manner ● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail ● Ability to manage multiple files independently while collaborating effectively with the team

Please note: this role requires employees to be onsite Monday to Friday (during regular business hours). The company is located near Dufferin St. and Finch Ave West in North York so interested candidates must ensure they are able to commute to this location on a daily basis.
