The salary range for the position of Legal Assistant is $45,000 - $60,000 annually. This position will be located at our Niagara Falls Office.

Job Description

The Legal Assistant role supports the day-to-day activities of lawyers within the real estate law practice group. This role is responsible for document preparation and general practice administration. Responsible for filing of documentation, data entry and data management, correspondence, and calendar management.

  • Provide support in the efficient and effective management of the practice including drafting letters/ documents, filing, file management, scheduling appointments and meetings, managing deadlines etc.
  • Manage real estate files from beginning to end of transaction;
  • Prepare transactional documents for purchases, sales, financing etc.
  • Complete closing reports;
  • Open and close files;
  • Prepare account related documents including docket entries, billing summaries, accounts, etc.;
  • Facilitate communication between lawyer (s), clients and external contacts;
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned and or required from time to time.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years' experience in a Real Estate role within a legal environment;
  • Knowledge of purchase/sale of residential & commercial files;
  • Some experience in ordering and receiving title searches is an asset;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and legal software including PCLaw;
  • Strong knowledge of Unity and Teraview programs;
  • Demonstrated experience providing administrative support in an environment with a variety of functions;
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize and risk-assess high volumes of work, responding to shifting priorities as necessary;
  • Ability to take initiative and demonstrate accountability, flexibility and adaptability;
  • Detail oriented with strong multi-tasking skills;
  • Decisive and able to work with minimal supervision;
  • Exceptional attitude and work ethic;
  • Willingness to assist others voluntarily or as requested in a team environment;
  • Enjoy working in a large office and team environment;
  • Willingness and ability to support and enhance the firm's presence and goals.
