Cloud Security Architect

The Team

The role is positioned in the IT architecture team, headed up by our global chief technology officer, responsible for the technology roadmap of the global firm. It will also work very closely with the information security continual improvement team responsible for delivering strategic and tactical changes that enhance and uphold the enterprise security posture across the whole firm and the chief information security officer.

The Role

The cloud security architectwill lead the design and development of the firm's cloud-based security architectures, policies, procedures, methods and tools with an emphasis on securely facilitating business operations. The role will define the cloud security architectures and policies and ensure all new and existing cloud and cloud-hybrid systems are compliant through regular risk assessments.

  • Ownership and definition of cloud security architectures and policies for new and existing cloud and cloud-hybrid systems.
  • Act as subject matter expert across all IAM topics as it relates to both cloud and on-premises enterprise technology, and the relationship between the architectures.
  • Drive the adoption of authentication and authorization reference architectures for existing, new and emerging IAM technologies.
  • Design and develop cloud security architectures and perform architectural reviews.
  • Ensure security is built into Azure Cloud designs from inception and throughout the solutions lifecycle.
  • Provide thought leadership in developing new cloud-based services engaging with other teams to provide guidance and recommendations for the most effective cloud security controls.
  • Perform risk assessment of proposed and existing system architecture for compliance with security best practices, recommending technical, administrative and physical controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Lead compliance efforts based on selected industry frameworks and compliance standards.
  • Identify innovative opportunity in cloud technologies and processes to strengthen security posture and drive evolution in applications and services.
  • Communicate on cloud security requirements and improve security awareness with development and operational teams.
  • Build up cloud security expertise across the information security community through sharing expertise and coaching.
  • Manage self-contained projects and proof of concepts within the group to defined success criteria in a secure fashion to group standards (creating such standards as may be required for new initiatives).
  • Contribute to building and maintaining an inventory of products, applications and tools.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by the chief information security officer or global chief technology officer.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Extensive experience in a security-related role.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud platform and security architecture. Exposure to AWS and Google platforms is also desirable.
  • Expert knowledge of key Microsoft cloud technologies, including Azure: MFA, Advanced Threat Protection, Cloud App Security, Key Vault, AD storage, monitoring, access control, policy management, and Resource Manager.
  • Authoritative understanding of data communications and information systems hardware, software, and design principles, such as VPN, segmentation, WAF, access control, CASB, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of the security landscape (attack vectors, tooling, best practices for assessment, mitigation and remediation).
  • Working knowledge of information security frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST, and CIS.
  • Demonstrable experience of securing cloud services either through project delivery or ongoing continual refinement.
  • Extensive experience of designing and delivering enterprise or cloud architectures utilizing TOGAF, or industry equivalent standards.
  • Previous experience of working on large complex business and technology transformation programs in a security advisory capacity.
  • Ability to lead and provide strategic vision to large technical teams on complex projects.
  • Experience in Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud Architect is preferred.
